RubyNation 2009 Call for Speakers

The RubyNation 2009 has put out a call for speakers. "RubyNation is an annual Ruby conference serving the Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC areas."

Submissions are due by March 21, 2009. The conference will be held on June 12 and 13, 2009, in Reston, VA, USA.

It has been announced that historic releases of Gabmit Scheme are now available online.

Gambit-C v4.4.1 Released

Gambit-C v4.4.1 has been released. Gambit-C includes a Scheme interpreter, and a Scheme compiler that emits portable C code.

This release includes: documentation updates, memory leak fixes, improved Emacs keybindings for the REPL, improved decompilation of quasiquotes, bug fixes, and other changes.

SWI-Prolog 5.7.6 Released

SWI-Prolog 5.7.6 has been released. SWI-Prolog is a portable, open source Prolog implementation.

This release includes: a library for TIPC support, memory leak fixes, documentation updates, bug fixes, and other changes.

Nexus Programming Language Announced

The Nexus programming language has been announced. It is an "object-oriented, dynamically-typed, reflective programming language", drawing from Lua and Ruby.

Next Boston Ruby Group Meeting on Mar. 10

Vala 0.5.7 Released

Vala 0.5.7 has been released. Vala "aims to bring modern programming language features to GNOME developers without imposing any additional runtime requirements and without using a different ABI compared to applications and libraries written in C." It offers features such as: interfaces, properties, lambda expressions, local variable type inference, and more.

This release includes: support for signals in static D-Bus clients, improved asynchronous method support, reporting of unused internal methods, extended POSIX bindings, FUSE and libdaemon bindings, and bug fixes.

Mono 2.4 Preview RC 1 Released

Mono 2.4 Preview RC 1 has been released. Mono is a portable, open source .NET CLI implementation.

JRuby 1.2.0RC1 Released

This release includes: performance improvements, improved Ruby 1.9 support, faster parsing, bug fixes, and other changes.

Groovy 1.6 has been released. Groovy is a dynamic, object-oriented language for the Java Platform.

This release includes: runtime performance improvements, support for multiple assignments, optional return in if/else and try/catch blocks, AST transformations and transformation annotations, the Grape module and dependency system, built-in JSR-223 scripting engine; metaprogramming improvements; and other changes.

Monster 0.11 Alpha has been released. Monster is an object-oriented programming language meant for game scripting.

This release includes: complete inheritance and polymorphism; 'abstract', 'final' and 'override' function keywords; support for modules and the 'import' statement; support for idle functions; improved threading; and other changes.

tecomp 0.10 Released

tecomp 0.10 has been released. It is an open source, cross-platform Eiffel compiler.

This release includes: the addition of default_out to the ANY class, multibranch statements, and other changes.
