Scheme Workshop 2009 Call for Papers

Scheme Workshop 2009 has put out a call for papers. "The purpose of the workshop is to report experience with the Scheme family of programming languages, to foster collaboration among the members of the community, and to present research related to Scheme and functional programming."

The submission deadline is June 5, 2009. The workshop will be held on August 22, 2009, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

PyCon 2009 Registration Now Open

Ruby 1.9.1 Released

Ruby 1.9.1 has been released. Ruby is a dynamic, cross-platform, object-oriented language.

This release includes: updates and improvements to the builtin classes and objects, magic comments for declaring the source code encoding, a new syntax for lambdas, a new literal hash syntax, support for block local variables, support for mandatory arguments after optional arguments, support for overloading negative operators, new and updated bundled libraries, and other changes.

Trad4 1.0 Released

Trad4 1.0 has been released. "Trad4 is a fully concurrent, thread safe, graph-based programming language that scales linearly on multiple cores."

GCC Runtime Library Exception Announced

It has been announced that a new GCC Runtime Library Exception has been developed. This will allow various GNU Compiler Collection libraries to switch to the GPLv3, as well as allow for the development of a plugin framework for GCC.

Erlang Workshop 2009 Call for Papers

The Eighth ACM SIGPLAN Erlang Workshop has put out a call for papers. It aims to "bring together the open source, academic, and industrial programming communities of Erlang. It will enable participants to familiarize themselves with recent developments on new techniques and tools tailored to Erlang, novel applications, draw lessons from users' experiences and identify research problems and common areas relevant to the practice of Erlang and functional programming."

The submission deadline is May 8, 2009. The workshop will be held on September 3, 2009, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
