May 21, 2007 AngloHaskell 2007 has been announced. The date and venue have yet to be decided. May 20, 2007 Robert Pickering has announced that his 'Foundations of F#' book will soon be available. Its first printing run will finish on May 25, 2007. F# is a variant of ML running on .NET, sharing a core language with Objective Caml. Nils M Holm has announced that the second edition of his Sketchy LISP: An Introduction to Functional Programming in Scheme textbook is now available. This edition includes: two new sections covering macros and quasi quotation, a quick reference, corrections, and other changes. May 18, 2007 Objective Caml 3.10.0 has been released. Objective Caml is a statically typed, strictly evaluated descendant of ML, offering object-oriented, functional and imperative features. This release includes: support for virtual instance variables in classes, the printing of stack backtraces on uncaught exceptions in native-code programs, a partial reimplementation of the Camlp4 preprocessor, the experimental 'ocamlbuild' compilation manager, a 64-bit Mac OS X PPC port, and other changes. High Level Assembly 1.96 has been released. HLA adds high-level language syntax and constructs to x86 assembly. This release includes bug fixes. May 17, 2007 Frink 2007-05-17 has been released. Frink is a language which allows for units of measurement to be tracked throughout calculations to help ensure correct answers. This release includes: support for allowing patterns to match arbitrary functions, a new symbolic mode, an experimental standalone Windows executable, new options for formatting numerical values, and other changes. May 16, 2007 Parrot 0.4.12 has been released. Parrot is a virtual machine designed to efficiently execute dynamic languages. This release includes: improvements to the configuration system; updates to the abc, PHP, Lua and Tcl implementations; garbage collector and memory management improvements; better support for non-GCC compilers; improved C++ compiler compatibility; and other changes. GNU Compiler Collection 4.2.0 has been released. GCC is a portable compiler system including front-ends for C, C++, Java, Objective-C, Objective-C++, Fortran and Ada, and supporting a variety of target platforms. This release includes: OpenMP support for the C, C++ and Fortran compilers; new -fstrict-overflow, -Wstrict-overflow, and -fno-toplevel-reorder command line options; additional warnings; an overhaul of the C++ visibility handling; the removal of several deprecated C++ operators; the removal of several deprected command line options; support for the Fortran 2003 streaming IO extension; Java language support for the 32-bit HP-UX 11 target; documentation improvements; build system improvements; plus other changes and bug fixes. It has been announced that R5.93RS, the next draft of the Revised6 Report on the Algorithmic Language Scheme, will be delayed until May 22, 2007. liskell.org, the new website of the Liskell programming language, has been announced. Liskell combines the syntax of Lisp with the semantics of Haskell. High Level Assembly v1.95 has been released. HLA adds high-level language syntax and constructs to x86 assembly.
