Bertrand Meyer Receives ACM Software System Award

It has been announced that Bertrand Meyer is this year's recipient of the ACM Software System Award. The Software System Award is awarded to "an institution or individual(s) recognized for developing a software system that has had a lasting influence, reflected in contributions to concepts, in commercial acceptance, or both.

Dr. Meyer receives the award for "designing and developing the Eiffel programming language, method and environment, embodying the Design by Contract approach to software development and other features that facilitate the construction of reliable, extendible and efficient software.

ooRexx 3.1.2 RC1 Released

ooRexx 3.1.2 RC1 has been released. ooRexx is a portable, open-source REXX implementation based on IBM Object REXX.

This release includes: a new OLE class, documentation updates, plus other changes and bug fixes.

2007 International Rexx Symposium Schedule Available

It has been announced that the schedule is available for the 2007 International Rexx Symposium. It is "the premier technical conference where Rexx users and developers gather to exchange ideas and information and plan for the future of the language.

The conference will be held from April 30 to May 3, 2007, in Tampa, Florida, USA.

EuroPython 2007 Call for Proposals

The EuroPython 2007 conference has put out a call for proposals. "EuroPython brings together developers, designers and business people in the Python and Zope communities.

The talk proposal submission deadline is May 18, 2007. The conference itself will be held from July 9 to 11, 2007, in Vilnius, Lithuania.
