The Seventh ACM SIGPLAN Erlang Workshop has put out a call for papers. "This workshop will bring together the open source, academic, and industrial programming communities of Erlang. It will enable participants to familiarize themselves with recent developments on new techniques and tools tailored to Erlang, novel applications, draw lessons from users' experiences and identify research problems and common areas relevant to the practice of Erlang and functional programming." The 2007 Obfuscated Erlang Competition has been announced. "The goal is to write the most obfuscated Erlang program, providing a safe forum for poor coding practices and programming styles. Through this competition, we hope to illustrate some of the subtleties of Erlang and how they can best be used and abused." Submissions are due on November 2, 2007, with the winners announced and prizes awarded on November 8, 2007 at the Erlang User Conference.
