Borland Software Corporation has announced plans to relaunch its Turbo brand of development tools. The products will include Turbo Delphi, Turbo Delphi for .NET, Turbo C++, and Turbo C# for .NET. General availability of the products is planned for the third quarter of 2006. November 08, 2005 Borland has made available a roadmap of their future plans for Delphi, up until 2007. Delphi is a object-oriented, Pascal-derived language and development environment. Delphi 2006 adds C and C++ support. The Delphi compiler also adds support for operator overloading, and the inlining of compiler magic functions. "Delphi Highlander" is due for release in 2006. It adds .NET 2.0 support to the Delphi toolset, including the addition of generic types, partial classes, and nullable types to Delphi.NET. There are plans to add support for the Avalon, Indigo and WinFX technologies of Windows Longhorn in the "Delphi Longhorn" release. This release will also add managed C++ support. Borland Delphi 2006, C++Builder 2006 and C#Builder 2006 have been announced. They will be available for pre-order between October 17 and December 1, 2005, with shipment scheduled for early December. According to a recent article by Danny Thorpe, Borland Chief Scientist, the Delphi compiler includes support for operator overloading syntax in Win32, and inlining of compiler magic functions. October 02, 2005 Danny Thorpe of Borland has made available the plans for the next few Delphi releases. The next version of Delphi, codenamed "DeXter", is due to be released sometime in 2005. It will include support for Win32 C++ programming, language support for operator overloading, support for the inlining of compiler magic functions, plus other changes and improvements. "Highlander" is due out in 2006, with the emphasis being on .NET 2.0 support. Language support for generic types, partial classes, and nullable types will most likely be added to Delphi.Net. |
