It has been announced that the next FringeDC formal meeting will be held on October 11, 2008. FringeDC is a group for people in the Washington, D.C. area who are interested in non-mainstream programming languages, including Lisp, Scheme, Haskell, Prolog and Smalltalk.

Mono 2.0 has been released. Mono is a portable, open source .NET CLI implementation.

This release includes: various performance improvements, reduced runtime memory usage, a --debug=casts command line option for improved reporting of InvalidCastException message details, complete C# 3.0 support, improved anonymous method/lambda support, performance counters, support for native methods in assemblies on Windows, support for 64-bit indexed arrays on 64-bit systems, DTrace support on Mac OS X and Solaris, ADO.NET and ASP.NET improvements, and other changes.

PLT Scheme v4.1.1 has been released. PLT Scheme is a family of Scheme implementations, including DrScheme and MzScheme.

This release includes: mzc support for decompiling bytecode files, a new servlet development tutorial, DrScheme improvements, support for formlets, and other changes.

Open64 4.2 has been released. Open64 is an open source compiler suite including compilers for C, C++, and Fortran.

This release includes: the enabling of the GCC 4.2.0-based front-end, improved Fortran 2003 support, reduced IPA memory usage, optimization improvements, support for new targets, bug fixes, and other changes.

Blue 1.6.8 has been released. Blue is a portable, high-level, dynamic programming language.

This release includes: initial work on a new LEMON-based parser, a shell stream for communicating with the command interpreter, and documentation updates.

Ctalk 0.0.77a has been released. Ctalk is an object-oriented extension to C.

This release includes: AssociativeArray and Collection improvements, and improvements to superclass method and variable operations.

EiffelStudio 6.3.7.4971 has been released. EiffelStudio is a cross-platform Eiffel implementation and development environment.

This release includes: support for immutable strings, support for attribute body initialization, IDE improvements, bug fixes, and other changes.

NASM 2.05rc1 has been released. NASM is a portable x86-32 and x86-64 assembler, supporting a variety of platforms and object file formats.

This release includes: '-w-user' for suppressing the output of '%warning' directives, fixes, and other changes.

VFX Forth for Windows v4.21 has been released. VFX Forth for Windows is an ANS Forth implementation, including a optimizing code generator and other development tools.

This release includes COM and ActiveX support.

It has been announced that the proceedings and photographs from EuroForth 2008 are now available online. "EuroForth is an annual conference on the Forth programming language, stack machines, and related topics, and has been held since 1985."

Stackless Python for Python 2.6 has been released. Stackless Python is a Python interpreter that minimizes the use of the C stack, also offering support for microthreads.
